Cate Chant
Rider & Trainer
Originally from Toronto, Cate has been riding horses for over 20 years. She has experience competing on the A circuit in the hunters, jumpers and equitation, winning ribbons in Canada and the United States at venues such as the Kentucky Horse Park, Capital Classic, Caledon Equestrian Park, and the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida.
Cate has competed at OHJA finals, CET regional finals, and New England Equitation Finals. She also represented her alma mater, Wheaton College, in the open division of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association while obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. A lifelong student of the sport, Cate sat on the board of the Manitoba Hunter Jumper Association for four years and is currently pursuing a diploma in Equine Science from the University of Guelph and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Lindenwood University.
Cate has been coached by Olympic show jumper Chris Delia, Canadian Showjumping champion Ainsley Vince and USET Talent Search Finals champion Kristy McCormack, and her experience and kind demeanor make her a knowledgeable and patient rider and instructor. Together with her husband Mike Richards, Cate is in charge of horse care and day-to-day operation of the farm in Kenora, Ontario.
